Fake ID To AARP - Song Release and Story Behind It

Do you remember the first time you were called "sir” or “ma’am”?

I don't know about you, but it struck me as uh-oh, I didn’t realize I looked this old.

Then, not that long ago, I was driving our car solo during our move from San Francisco to our new Puerto Vallarta, Mexico home, and a young front desk girl who was checking me into a motel just out of Bakersfield, CA,  said in all innocence as she requested my payment,  “There's a 10% discount with AAA or AARP.” That familiar chilling feeling I had when I was first called Sir immediately flooded back into my veins.

Always on the lookout for a song title and story that might connect, I couldn’t resist writing a song based on my life experience to memorialize the incident, entitled Fake ID To AARP (attached), while driving the rest of the way down through the southwestern US and Mexico.

Based on their age, people who have heard it either immediately tend to tell me their own similar stories, or admit that they aren’t yet old enough to have them. If you're one of those, be forewarned!

I hope you like the song, and would love to hear anything you might be willing to share from your own experience.

All the best,

Denis
